Rocketfish Mini Display Port-to-HDMI Adapter (RF-AP305) FAQ (13-0159)

Thunderbolt iMac inch, Late As can be seen, there are two possible cables that can be used to connect Macs in Target Display Mode. In my examples, throughout this tutorial, I shall use one iMac, an external Mac mini and a cable. Though my equipment uses Mini DisplayPort, this example could be Thunderbolt-equipped Macs and a Thunderbolt cable if those are available. In this tutorial, I am using: This has the effect of switching the video display input to be that from the Mac mini. Command F2 switches the display between the iMac video ouput and that of the Mac mini. Cancelling Target Display Mode There are a number of different ways to exit the Target Display Mode that is displaying, in my example, the video output of the Mac mini to the iMac. The easiest way is to press Command F2, on the iMac keyboard, to toggle the display input back to the iMac. Target Display Mode from the Mac mini to the iMac will also be disabled if either Mac goes into sleep mode, is turned off or if the Mini DisplayPort cable is detached.

Is the iPad a tool you bring with you to the office to help manage your daily routine? Or maybe a key tool in a teaching curriculum in a classroom? If you answer yes, you are not alone. Because two areas where the iPad has seen growth has been in the business and education field.

Looking for the group knowledge on switching from a PC to a Mac Mini for my consulting practice. I am 2/3rds of the way into the Apple Universe.

The closest I’ve seen is MaxiVista, which is a video driver that sends output over a network to a viewer program running on another machine, enabling spare PCs like that old laptop with 98 on it to be used as additional monitors. It’s not free, though the demo is pretty darn functional. Incidentally, VirtualBox has native support for exporting a VM’s console via RDP, and if you define a guest with multiple “video cards”, you can connect to it with multiple RDP sessions to get the various screens out.

And it is free. But none of this helps with Firewire. I’m just braindumping since it’s slightly related. This will be way less circuitous than encoding your screen contents to DV, sending that to a camcorder, and then to the TV.

USB 3 gives you the versatility to hook up dozens of different types of external devices. Two Gigabit Ethernet ports let you connect to multiple networks. And an HDMI 1.

My wife and I are about to take on iPhone development and we’ve only got the funds to purchase one iMac 24″ to do this. Anyone out there with iPhone development experience know if two different Apple developer accounts can be profiled on one development Mac? Time sharing wont be an issue as I work from home while she works away from home and we’ll be able to figure out that part no problem. Please understand that we’re both completely new to the Mac, OS X as well as the iPhone development arena and so we have no idea if this is possible.

If not our second option would be to purchase two Mac Mini’s keyboards and mice too and figure out some KVM to each of our existing PC’s monitors that we already have, and develop that way. We would rather not and just share one iMac between two developer accounts and IDE profiles. My wife and I invested in a 24″ iMac from Best Buy utilizing a 12 month no-interest offer, which made it the choice over the 20″ iMac.

We’ve created two OS X accounts, to keep settings and such separate. Either Windows moved closer to OS X or vice-versa as things on OS X seem quite intuitive and we were highly impressed at the whole un-box and setup time of about 8 minutes! So far, so good.

Converts Mini DisplayPort audio and video output to connect to both DVI and HDMI monitors, TVs, displays and projectors.

If you’ve never used dual monitors, you may not immediately see the advantages – after all, you can quickly Apple-TAB to any application or use Spaces to switch screens entirely. The dual monitor does offer more screen real estate, but is that really all that useful? Even Microsoft says so, and we know they are always right.

And it’s even more useful on a Mac, though before I leave PC’s out entirely, let me mention this interesting use of dual monitors. That’s conceptually similar to what I do for remote support: So how do you set up dual monitors on your Mac? On my MacBook Pro I have to use an adapter make sure you bring that adapter when you take your Mac out for a ride: It’s not going to break anything, but it can confuse things a bit, and this experience can be confusing enough at first anyway.

I’d also recommend disabling Spaces if you have it enabled; again, there’s nothing wrong with Spaces, and it works perfectly with dual monitors – I love Spaces with dual monitors! Baby steps first, and once you feel comfy, you can turn Spaces back on.

How do I connect my Mac laptop to a monitor

After looking around I did discover that there was a device that would do what I was looking for. This tutorial applies strictly to Mac Book pros Mine was new in Sept of and is running Little Annoyance, but Working Great! One of the primary annoyances is that it treats the dual monitor setup form the device as a single monitor, so you can see that the task bar is completely stretched out across the top.

On the other hand the great part about this is you can stack a ton of stuff in your application bar at the bottom — fill it up as it will stretch all the way across the bottom if it needs to. I work primarily off the two main monitors, but I can put secondary applications like script logs and skype on the less dominant lap top monitor.

This document explains how to connect and set up a television (TV) or a monitor as a second display. Before you begin Make sure the computer has at least two video connections: one for the main monitor and one for the secondary monitor or TV.

I am not trying to use the TV as a primary monitor but as a secondary one; like the one you can see in a computer show on TV. It can be made to work, but “sucks” doesn’t even come close to describing the visual result. And here’s a hint: At best a regular TV display is around x resolution. Years ago, when personal computers were first introduced to the mass market, they were actually designed to use TVs as monitors, at a default resolution of x , if I recall correctly.

Anyone who had an Apple ][, as I did, will remember the 40 character display width. They’re not regular TV’s at all Resolutions that simply won’t work on a normal TV. Those “TV’s” on your favorite computer shows?

Twitter Advertisement When I first started working in IT, one of the first difficult issues I had to deal with was trying to figure out how to get dual monitors to work correctly. The monitors should just instantly turn on and start working, right? Installing external displays to Ubuntu is easier than you might think. But when it comes to computer video output, there is a certain way that you need to go about connecting and using extended displays.

Check Your Video Card Settings The first step is to determine if your video card even has the ability to display to multiple monitors. In the display settings, you may actually see the multiple displays come up, with some disabled and others set up as either your primary display or as an extended display 3 Things You Can Do With Old Computer Monitors 3 Things You Can Do With Old Computer Monitors Unused electronics are the bane of the modern life.
